The GC Experience !

Last weekend I went to Grand Canyon and the nearby Sedona along with a bunch of friends from work. The ride to get there and back was ofcourse fun and entertaining aswell. But the experience of being in the Grand Canyon was amazing. The first view of that unbelievably huge canyon to my naked eye was mindnumbing to say the least. I still cannot comprehend as to how something of that huge magnitude got carved by the Colorado River millions of years ago. Here is a link to a album of pictures I snapped up at the Grand Canyon. The weather was mildly chilly with high 20's in the night and around late 50's to early 60's during the day.

The best part of the Grand Canyon visit was the trek we made on one of the many trails at the Canyon. We selected the Hermit's Trail and went down about 1500ft about 3miles(round trip of 6miles) when we reached the limits of some people in our little trekking group. The part of trekking back up all the way was easily more harder than the downward trek. The view of the valleys and in general scenary of the canyon all through the trek was amazing. We were there to also experience world famous sunsets at the canyon at the end of our exhausting but refreshing day. The hills and the valleys all start to shimmer in the golden red hue during the sunset which is a feast for the eye.

On our way back from the Canyon, we also went to Sedona, AZ. A very beautiful hilly area with a lot of vegetation and of course those amazing brightly red hillocks. We trekked another small hillock there with our group although only few made it to the highest point. It is another amazing place although quite different from the GC experience. A link to my snaps at Sedona can be found here.

Finally on a funny note, here is a link to bizarre snap I took while there (I mean look at the thickness & color of that puke, eewww !!). And there was this this mindless info hoarding which brought a smile to my face. Finally, they have named a couple snow peaks in the canyon based on the hindu trinity of deities Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva. Here is some info about that.

Fantasy Football

It's the first season I am enrolled to play fantasy football after just watching the game and learning about it for the past two. I thought I knew the game enough to draft my own team, fight for points and in this case for some petty betting money. Well, I do know a decent amount the game now - but this is not aimed at addressing my knowledge of football.

Instead, what I've experienced is that as I have doing this for the past 7 weeks, shuffling the players drafted in my team, I have started to care less about the game itself. On the other hand, I am interested in a few players (who are starting in my drafted team) doing well, while others (not in my team, and in particularly in the opponent's team) doing bad. This never happened the previous two seasons, when I just wanted to enjoy a nice game of football ( apart from a Packers victory every weekend).

What should I do about it ? Maybe nothing !
